The Indian Central Authority (CARA) has issued the following requirements:
All Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs) must provide a Psychologist report describing the psychological profile of the PAP.
The Psychological evaluation for the report will include a detailed interview by a psychologist for 30-45 minutes. The interview should be focussed on the PAP’s motivation for adoption, temperament, stress tolerance, frustration tolerance, emotional stability, decision making and future plans.
The Psychologist may include (if need be) any suitable psychological tests for the PAP. While selecting the tests, the PAP’s gender, age and culture should be kept in mind. The psychological tests such as the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and other tests (eg MCMI and MMPI2) can be used.
